Hello. Have refound this group after a break of many years and remember it as being quite relaxed. Used to live in N.Wales with hills, rain, wind, snow etc. Now live in Central Portugal with just as many hills, but the weather is better (albeit too hot at times and too wet at others) and more cafes and cakes! Main interest is touring, although only for shortish trips as I like my comfort, food and wine.
Just back from second trip of the year; a short 3 day 200km tour into Spain so feeling refreshed. Big question, do I need another bike?

Thanks everyone. With regards the bike, it would replace a Surly Cross Check which is about 10 years old, done 50K km (maybe a bit high, but at least 40K) and things are wearing out or just getting old, but then, so am I. It's a been great bike, very comfortable, but would like something a bit lighter and with better brakes. Full size V brakes are good, but perhaps my tolerance to "oh I can stop in time" is lower now I'm older. I'm sure I'll have many questions on here.
