Just sat down with a large latte in Evolution, Huddersfield. Fairtrade coffee made very very well, with a reasonably priced bagel and salad menu. Knocks any of the chains for absolute six.

It resonates with me as I frequently marvel at the willingness of folk to part with pounds for something that costs pence.

In the episode of The Simpsons where Bart goes to a shopping mall to get his ear pierced, every other shop he walks past is a Starbucks. He gets his ear done and the bloke who runs the shop says he's lucky to catch him as they're closing in five minutes to become a Starbucks. Then as Bart leaves, every single shop in the entire mall is now Starbucks...
