When on the subway, why does the announcement come AS the site are closing that the train is going to whatever destination and if I want to go elsewhere the then I should wait for the next train

I don't know. Train and platform announcements are a complete mystery to me. At our rural station, for example, we are frequently informed that "Security personnel tour this station 24 hours a day." Which is news to the cows grazing nearby.

Scotrail have me worried with their on-board announcements whenever I'm on a train approaching the stop at the end of the line, e.g. "We are now approaching Glasgow Central where this train terminates". I always imagine that the train is going to self destruct after it stops and turn into a little pile of rubble on the track.
Should it not be "We are now approaching Glasgow Central where this SERVICE terminates", or even better for the plain English campaign "We are approaching Glasgow Central which is the last stop on this line, so you'll obviously need to get off the train you nobbers".

Travelling on the HS1 is like flying. The announcements are virtually the same apart from the lack of seat belts and you even get thanked by "Michael and the rest if the onboard team for travelling on Southeastern"

You dohave to check sometimes that you are still on the ground.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Is it really sad to admit that I'm trying to work out where that station that is?

you should try using all available doors to board then. no matter how hard i try i can't split into molecules. although some people do seem to try and use all available space
