functioning alcoholic is a term used to describe a well loved headteacher that my wife worked for. always had a glass of red on his desk ! damn good at turning failing schools round ( he employed my wife to help turn one school from failing to outstanding)

Well if you had alcoholic nature as a negative for employment, then you'd weed out Irish..............my father (RIP), aunt, 3 uncles (2 RIP), all cousins (god knows how many) drink like there is no tomorrow. I don't like visiting Dundalk because I come home wrecked, I dread my cousins coming to visit , the havoc they create locally (drinking then fighting) is embarrassing (but funny), they were banned from every pub in my village on Sunday, having arrived Saturday night, for my fathers funeral, Monday. The Irish drink like fish, get over it........
