Here, have a virtual coffee anna man hug, mate.

p.s. GOTCHA!!! And I don't wanna grow up, I want to have fun teasing my mates, and live life to the full.

So it's ok for you to do it but when someone else does it to you,you throw a tizzy and leave the board.

Ok then.

Last night was horrible, going down the road that leads to Buckingham Palace I decided to take the path through St James' Park instead of the nice, sensible but bust road. Huge drifts of squidgy leaves and practically no street lighting meant it was terrifying, you had no idea what could be lurking under the drifts (potholes, glass, who knows?) and ninja cyclists kept hurtling towards me.

I was lucky...no leaves or mad cab drivers....Just the odd ped not bothering to look as usual.Oh and no bad buses either.Just that clown in the National Express coach who decided to bomb over the Bow Flyover at warp speed.

Proffers Hackers a chill pill and a sense of humour pill.

And no, I didn't leave because of teasing, but because of Cab's and Mr P's endless unignorable arguments. Thankfully now I can put either of them on ignore at will. Also because I don't have enough time in spring and summer, and I'm not very good at tearing myself away from this place and other forums.

I got the bus this morning (have strained my calf muscle so having a day off to try and repair the damage before this weekends sailing competition) so had a good look at the cycle lanes on the avenue this morning. I wouldn't go near them on my bike as totally full of leaves. Looked slippy as hell!

They cleaned them out near to my work recently, however when I had a close look they had also managed to cover the cycle lanes in small stones & glass as well. So took up primary at 19-21mph in a 20 limit.

Lots round tonight I noticed.

Leaves also seem to give out some sort of sticky substance when mulching down wet which can be very slippery and spread over a wide area around them.

I think the the saying Pride before a fall is very apt.

Also beware the first rain after a long dry spell! Just like wet leaves but invisible. ;)

As an ex bold (365 days a year) biker/scooterist who has come off on diesel / gravel / leaves and black ice. Leaves are up there with the most dangerous "third party" material. Adjust you lean angle, driving and braking distances accordingly.

Each year for about the last six I have been surprised by the lack of leaf clearing up in Coventry centre. Yes the main shopping streets are done but as soon as your out of the centre then there are pavements thick and covered with leaves along a main road. In the parks a bloke comes with a leaf blower and wafts them off the path and onto the grass in a pile but this can't be done on the streets. Surely the stacks of leaves hinders the drains and sewers Leading to localised flooding? I'm slightly convinced that as I was growing up in a small vilage near a grubby northern town in the late 80's early 90's that leaves were swept up and drains regulally sucked clear of debris. Is it so hard and costly to do? Surely it's a job for someone and worth the money?

I always trust my cowardice. It's there for a reason!

Even if there is grip on the bend, the fact you're going into it with a degree of uncertainty means that you'll not be relaxed, be tensed up and maybe make matters worse. Allow some time to reacquaint yourself with winter roads, and let the confidence naturally come back... then still take it easy! The laws of physics can't be overridden, not even by gung-ho confidence (unless you're Valentino Rossi!)
