Those dinky little bolts that hold in brake pads... does anyone have a spare one?

I rounded one off recently. Used a metal file to file away a straight edge on either side then pliers could get a good enough grip to move it.

Yeah I tried this, also tried putting a small slot in for a screwdriver but all it ended with was shearing the top off leaving the thread still inside. Not to be put off I then drilled a pilot hole through the remaining bit and tried a tiny stud extractor and still no joy ! ! That's when I decided enough was enough and bought new cartridges.

When the grub screws seized on mine I drilled them out on all four pads and then didn't replace them. If the cartridges are fitted the right way around the grub screws serve no real purpose, they are there to protect people who 'accidentally' install the cartridges the wrong way around.
