What's your view on prosecutions for victimless crimes like speeding, driving without insurance, mobile use, drink-driving? Waste of police/court time?
Waste of time? Not at all, offenders should be punished for breaking the law. What a strange question 🤔

Mikey seriously needs to up his game

What do you recommend - wheel clamps? stingers?

This is getting weird now

My views were that as far as I know, Mikey hasn’t directly prevented an accident, and that his smug attitude doesn’t do him any favours.

He may not have directly prevented an accident

but he has prevented them by
a) publicising that the law says you can;t do some things - which will stop at least some people doing it
and hence prevent future accidents happening
b) got some people prosecuted which will encourage then to stop doing it
again - preventing a future accident happening

although the term "accident" may be the wrong word

bit like speed vans at the side of the road

Why are you questioning me on something I haven’t disputed or even expressed an opinion on?

I’ve seen dozens of videos of Mikey doing what he does, and in not one of them have I seen him actively or directly prevent an accident. To me at least, the sole objective of his actions is to get offending motorists to amass penalty points, fined, or ultimately, banned.
... but now you're saying that mobile phone use etc are worth prosecuting, because they're illegal (and - I hope you agree - dangerous).

🤷‍♂️

Great, then drivers disobeying traffic signs and closed roads signs should be punished for breaking the law.

if people are not prosecuted for ignoring traffic regulation
including signs and closed roads
but also including speeding, using a mobile phone, and not wearing a seat belt

then there is no point in having the rules

so they have to be enforced for the general good

or they should be where possible

I'm as confused as Glyno here by what you are trying say.

There is a massive difference between people being prosecuted and punished following due process, and what Mikey does.

I don't think anybody here has expressed any views which suggest mortorists should not be prosecuted for these offences.

Hallelujah, and thank you!
