Barnet,
@Travs, don't worry about, just rise the bike. Some people on here just dont care, they even ride in their jeans and don't wear helmets.
They should be banned immediately, from what, I don't know.:bicycle:

I worry for you if you thought the rules were serious, or perhaps you didn't and have posted this as an amusing parody of the Velomanti rules and in response, you may read my post ironically or seriously or with idle detachment, I don't care.

Oh I'm not clever enough to think of an amusing parody such as this. Take it as green as its face value appears.

Tbh I didn't think they were set in stone, and I did realise there was some humour to them, but you always get some that take them seriously and I don't have enough experience in the cycling community to know how well respected (if at all) some of them are. And of course you always get those that @User opines on that will try to ram them down others throats.

Like motorcyclists. I read somewhere that if you are one, you pull up next to another at a set of lights, its not "the done thing" to acknowledge each other etc. etc.

I think I'm getting the gist of consensus on the issue though...

I saw your photos. They are great and what a diversity in age there is as well.
Thanks!

The problem as we saw it was that most cycling clubs cater for 'sporting' cyclists of one form or another, we wanted (and still do want) to try and cater for the leisure/fun/social cyclists. On the basic evidence we seem to be getting there. Since we started the town has also spawned a successful sporting/racing/mamil club too. Add the Tri club, Didcot Phoenix and all te Oxford clubs plus a good CTC following, Cycling is booming in Oxfordshire :-)

Add that the FNRttC has become a roaring sucess demonstrates that there are all kinds of ways to have a cycle community, BUT ... somebody has to start it. If you build it they will come.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.

Excellent. Giving ordinary people what they want. How novel

I ran a group for a few years and we found the problem was catering for a diverse group.

We would run a simple "starters" night, with a 5 mile run, basically introducing routes and giving advice.

Trouble was that my wife would be in the pub with the majority, whilst I would still be on mile 2 with the slow group.

We had one regular who stopped at junctions and walked across, even if she had right of way!

The benefits were brilliant, and we had many riders who blossomed and improved, introduced families to trailer bikes, traiers and how to shop by bike.
