1 person in 200 yards of pavement; I would cycle it, and when I was anywhere near that person I would slow to walking pace be very polite and courteous and not forget that I shouldn't be there.

I'd do this.

Seems a bit anal to walk in the situation described.

The trouble with picking and choosing when to ride on the pavement and when to stick to the road can come across as 'I can do what I like' which is where the "get on the pavement / cycle path / off the road / into the hedge" line comes from.

By walking the bike you make the point that you don't want to be sat in traffic but also that you feel you should be on the road but are choosing to 'get out of the way' for a moment until traffic has calmed down.

Well worth dismounting cyclo-cross style, running the bike round the corner, and hopping back on.

Don't ride on the pavement, likely you'll have a colleague sat in the queue who might give you an ear bending.

You'll get the high ground walking/running the bike !!!

Filter between the lines of stationary traffic until a little short of the corner then get off and walk.

Ride it at just above walking pace. You'll be sitting down and get there faster than walking. Simples.

It is illegal. Once I cycled onto the pavement to look in a shop window, all I did was roll the bike up off the road. Next thing I knew this squad car pulls up and the copper starts yelling at me aggressively. Clearly he was looking for a fight so I retreated, assuming a polite explanation would be wasted on him.

Don't do it!

Wish he'd be on duty down here. The number of scumbag, drug dealing scrotes than run their scag 'round the town on their nicked BSOs beggars belief in Swansea.

It's almost enough to make you vote Tory.

Seems a bit unfair. What you did is not much different from a motorist returning home and driving across the pavement to get onto their drive, though I dare say this allowed due to an easement or some other similar legal concept.

If their was a 100 cars in that queue-

"Hypocrisy!" was the cry. Not to mention the grammar.

Re the grammar: too right. When it comes to correctly inflecting the verb in the subjunctive mood, the CycleChat forums are quite shocking.

This bit is very important.

Bikes belong on the road, not the pavement (shared use ones excepted). By riding on the pavement, you give some motorists the impression that that's the correct place for bikes.

I would walk it. If there is even one moton in the queue of 100 they will make more noise than the rest of the 99 drivers (in the pub, or at work...).

Just filtering seems to enrage some drivers. I would rather not enrage them further by "cheating" *and* breaking the law

Moral high ground for me.

Have a similar situtuation by my house, Traffic lights & T junction, there is a 100yrds (ish) cycle lane & an ASL but most drivers block the lane, I want to turn left, but after less than 20yrds & i turn right into my driveway, unless I can get into the ASL & take Primary it's a nightmare.
So I usualy just get off my bike, walk it along the pavement round the corner, cross the road & walk right up my drive...usualy before the lights have changed anyways!

The worse thing I do is the stand with my right foot on left pedal & 'scoot' myself along... And only then when i've got a physical need/urge to get home & indoors quickly
