Relevant forthcoming cuts here and here.
The freeze still has a long way to go, and somehow I can't see the highway agency or councils to be prioritising shrinking funds on dealing with potholes.

Need to consider running big tyres, me think.

And more widespread reporting by us cyclists. Even if reporting is not speeding up repairs, it will assist claims when damage is done, having to pay damages will also encourage agency and councils to prioritise.

That Pugsley with 4" tyres is looking better by the day.......

This is bad news especially since we've had all this bad weather which has made the potholes reappear like they did last time we had a cold snap. I have noticed a few pop up since the snow has melted which are on my usual routes into town. I don't have a MTB to ride on and only have my racer with 23c tyres which don't like bumpy roads too much.
Also I hear more cold weather and snow is on the way from Wednesday night onwards so keep an eye out.

What's the opposite of a pot-hole ?

Once you leave the main roads here, then the road have not been maintained since they were first layed, in Franco's time.

So what you get is mainly the base stones, gravel etc. with loads of tarmac sticking UP out of this.

However there are some routes that are sort of maintained. In so far as occasionally they will come along with a lorry load of tarmac and fill in the holes. Banging it down with the back of a shovel. What you then end up with is something resembling a test track for car suspension.

That's why I ride an MTB with suspension.............
