This thread reminded me that I saw a tuba player breathing fire through his instrument on the South Bank in June and hey presto, just found a photo!
'The Tuba Set'
I am an imposter as I have nothing to do with Tubas but this thread reminded my of this band.
I've only got as far as choosing Gregson's Tuba Concerto and starting work on the almost impossible technical exercises. It will take me at least a year I think. What pieces are you playing for your grade 8?
I was quite partial to the Hindemith, but could never find a pianist good enough for the piano part.
I play Eb. There is a chap who cycles the world with his tuba in tow. Info found earlier in this thread I think.Do you play Eflat or Bflat?
The solo euphonium player in my sons' youth brass band cycles to band with his euph in a trailer. Kudos to him!
Your username made me think of this piece for solo tuba. (About 40secs in when he starts playing)

The Gregson's a good one. I used to play the John Fletcher/Besses recording of it constantly when I was young.I've only got as far as choosing Gregson's Tuba Concerto and starting work on the almost impossible technical exercises. It will take me at least a year I think.
