Oh, how exciting this is.. sod work for a few mins..

The Good.

All the lovely people I know from Cycle Chat and ride with and put up with me, especially in the eye of a hill.
Recovering from Patella Tendinitis.
Current mileage. Currently 8111miles for the year.
16 ton-ups.
First 200+ ride. 254.09miles on the outstanding and amazing Summer Solstice ride.
3 new bikes. Well, 6, but I sold 3..
Two weeks solo cylcle camping touring during the spill-off of Hurricane Katia.
Having even greater looking legs than the previous year.
Being entrusted at the rear of the fnrttc's and becoming Chef d'affaires.
Learning to enjoy the journey.
My sister surviving a cancerous tumour and major heart surgery. (wipes tears..) Without cycling and talking to you lot, it would have been very hard to cope with. Thank you.

The Bad.

Having to retire off my beautiful Zebra. But it is going to a very grateful new home.
Not seeing enough of some CC'ers.
Hurricane Katia.

The Ugly.

My gut, my chins, my arse...
Eating tarmac on Adam's January ride.
The fatigued state my beautiful thighs are in..

As Davy has mentioned it I just totted up mine, 23 rides over 100 miles this year for me. Wow!! I don't think I'll do that many in a year again.

Will manage 8000 km commuting this being my first full year commuting by bicycle, even though I was a little slack, distance wise, at the start of the year and still plenty of room for improvement in 2012.
Only regret not being able to have non-commute rides, that will not change for a long time.

Good:
Managed a few rides on my old routes and enjoyed the weather.
Now able to tackle 20 miles at medium pace without severe pain. Knees redden and burn a little after about an hour, but then settle.
Girlfriend has joined me on a few TPT rides and wants to do more.

Bad:
Realised I'll never ride to the level that I previously did (52 weeks a year, early sunday mornings, rain or shine + midweek summer training rides).

Overall:
Proud of what I've achieved with nearly 4 years since the injuries. Considering physio told me I may never ride again.
Looking forward to the new year, and new pastures to ride across.

It's a wonderful life! Get out there and enjoy it :-)

In one word “crap” due to prolapsed disc, only managed 1944 miles so far so should get to 2000 miles hopefully by the end of the year, my normal mileage is 5000-6000.
The good news is I'm having an epidural injection on the 13th January so hoping that will/may sort it out.

Good
Did a solo tour earlier this year, met up with a fair few CC people, and also with Wafflycat (previously of this parish)
Managed to win a few sprints on the WNRttP
Got my DynaTech Ti frame back up and running as a SS

Bad
Need to lose a fair amount of weight
Still haven't built up the Kirk Precision frame
Still haven't got a 'bent

Overall - I'm pretty pleased. Reasonably strong and fast on the bike, so I just need to lose some weight by the Spring and I should be on good form

A generally poor year for me tbh. Only notable rides were Manchester to Blackpool and the Cat & Fiddle Challenge. Just ordered some new black chainrings for the CAAD so she'll be getting blinged further over the weekend, then if this feckin' wind fecks off I hope to make more of an effort
I'm off work over Christmas too, so weather permitting I'll be getting out and hopefully getting into the right frame of mind to get into the New Year being far more focused, God knows my stomach will thank me for it ;)

Kids have gone, midlife crisis kicked in, got a bike, while on the road can ponder about the kids being gone and my midlife crisis, joined cyclechat, a bit high brow and clever for me. Target for 2012: try and find sun reading depressed, empty nest syndrome, cycling ex-footballers with depression to share fun and good times and maybe more.

Good things: discovering triathlon, learning to swim, winning my first ever race (10k running event), completing my first ever competitive tri (and not a short one either), taking part in a ridiculous endless triathlon challenge and managing 18 hours non-stop (only forced out due to knee problems), getting my TT bike, cycle commuting all year round even in -25 and ice and snow; being really fit again.

Bad things: Ontario round here is just too flat and the roads are not interesting, and coupled with a lack of cycling friends, limited local clubs with inconveniently timed runs or just the wrong kind of focus, and having a young child (which is not a bad thing at all, completely the opposite!), this means I just don't go on long weekend rides any more and almost no mountain biking. Apart from the commuting, it has to be all quite focused and timetabled training. This is why most of my good things aren't specifically cycling-related.

As the winter kicks in here, I've got my race schedule for next year sorted culminating in an Ironman 70.3, and the training program is underway. So long as I don't get too depressed or injured, I'm looking forward to a great 2012. And oddly, I think I am now a fitter and stronger rider than I was when I was doing lots of cycling miles and not cross-training as much. So, it's all good.

Mostly commuting miles here with not much extra curricular fun and not a right lot of time for CC either. Have enjoyed the bits I have done though and more next year is hoped for.

I had a reasonable first 6 months of the year with some good club rides as well as commuting. However since then I've been in Ho Chi Minh City and the roads and traffic from my apartment to work is so bad that I've not had one ride on the road since being here. However there is a good gym nearby so I use the turbo there 5 to 6 nights a week and that has kept the fitness under control. The good news is that I've just found a cycling club that do rides at the weekend and so will start going out with them after the New year. The only down side to this is that they are not Roadie but off road MTB rides. However getting out with other cyclists will be fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
