Three bikes... Arrgghh which one

I have moved from getting a MTB, CX and anything else and have realised for my needs for commuting a flat bar fast urban bike is needed with a decent group set, hydr discs and not too heavy. I have got it down to three bikes but I have to take into consideration slightly the resale value as no doubt will sell on in a year or two.

Eastway FB 2.0 Disc (This is a 2013 model, no details online about 2014 models and its not reduced in anyway)

Whyte Stirling '14

Going down this morning to see if they have my size to try out but since I have no commuter I need to get my cycle scheme cert ordered soon to get back on a bike. You can only order a voucher now with the bike details, I think this has changed as last time I ordered one in 2011 I could just order a value of the cert and not add the bike details.

Anyway, any help in deciding would help from you guys.

Yeah it helped, I like the rims the 105 rear but it is a spesh (common as muck) though the resale on 2013 model has dropped 50% on fLeabay.

I'm very happy with my Cambridge, the model down from the Stirling, so that would be my choice although the colour isn't me

Eastway would be second choice (but black)

and the Specialized way away in 3rd, no carbon fork for starters, although the best colour

Go ride them all, see which suits you best

From resale value pov I would tend to stick with specialized. Having said that, all bikes lose a bunch of money anyway so i guess choose the one you like the color of . I was surprised to see the spesh was the cheapest out of your list.

Ordered the Whyte, didn't offer a test ride but they don't stock the spesh in store anymore only the one below. I love the look and feel of the Whyte. The Eastway got slagged for the poor frame by sales assistant so didn't bother.

My Cambridge now wears M+ as after I posted, I discovered that the rear tyre was flatter than a very flat pancake. I'd see if the LBS will do you a deal on better tyres. The stock Maxxis ones are pretty poor

I have the Sirrus Elite 2013 (I think the main difference is mine is Tiagra and the comp is 105, the frames are definitely the same). I love it, I've had it since June and done circa 6500 miles on it. If you do go for the Specialized, then try and find a local concept/elite store, as you may find the 2013 comp at a reduced price.

lol.. Yep. They didnt have the spesh in store and would have to order it so as I need a bike like now I ordered the Whyte. I can't imagine doing anything near 14000 miles a year!!

specialized have lifetime frame warrenty while whyte have two years which is worth considering.

Interested to know how often frames actually fail under warranty conditions, i.e. not crashed (jnto) etc....rarely reported on here from what I have seen

One mountain bike frame, cracked by seat post and replaced just out of warranty, got next years frame and service and had some new bits put on as well. So alls good.
