I posted yesterday about a pavement cyclist near miss, today it was a moron at a roundabout, I could see he wasn't looking and yup he just drove out as if the whole road was his - luckily my tosspot sensor was working and I was already in full command of the bike's whoa system and was able to avoid him.

Anyway I'm sure it happens to most of us that ride on a daily basis - I don't bother Mrs 3BM with the gorey details anymore and unless I come limping home and with a torn jacket she remains unaware of what goes on on a regular basis. It doesn't seem worth worrying anyone else so I don't share it apart from posting it on a public forum that can be accessed by the entire population of the planet of course!

So do you tell your wife/husband/partner about near-misses, offs and idiots or do keep Mum?

Mum? No. Worries too much already.
Boss? No. Don't want to be banned from cycling and one of them thinks its too dangerous anyway.

Wife - Yes, but she has a choice between the lottery of a tight bum to pinch when I get in, or having to visit a hospital to pinch it, or guaranteeing a flabby one if I drive all the time. You take the rough with the smooth.

No, never tell about the near misses, and this is also one of the reasons I never got a helmet cam - she'd want to see the vids and then she'd cut my bikes in half.

I tend not to tell Mrs-LC about the near misses; don't want to worry her. But thankfully I don't get many.

I did tell her about the time I came off, but that was only 'cos I had a great big bruise in the middle of my thigh where I deadlegged myself on the bars (I think) on my way to arguing with the road surface.

Nope.

Not for near misses, least ways - some nights there'd be no time to talk of anything else.

Offs are a bit harder to hide, on account of the large patches of missing skin, and knackered bike.

What a good question.

I guess my answer is...Nope.

I dont get many bad experiences on my ride (i must ride the happy route) but generally never fill Mrs Jeez in on any bad news (work life/related).

For two reasons.
1. Bad news changes so quickly, one day its all doom and gloom and the next something comes up that solves it or makes it all better...so why share the short term stress.

2. If its really bad news, I dont want to talk about it anyway....I just hit the squash court and take it out on that tiny defensless little ball!!

+1......

Although she was once very good and rushed out to get all sorts of dressings when I removed a 6" square off my botty on the Cat and Fiddle. I was more worried that I'd trashed a new pair of cycling club shorts

Near misses and stuff, nah

Not unless there is visible damage, in which case it is hard to hide...

I'm very accident prone so tend to try and hide any offs. I NEVER tell my mum as she worries already but Mr Weenie generally works it out. When I fell in the canal there was wet clothing everywhere when he came home and when I fell over on the Bognor fnrttc I managed to jam the handlebar into my boob AND my personal lady area and both bruised incredibly badly. Once he stopped giggling he was most considerate.
