I can kind of see the benefit on a mountain bike that's getting battered into the ground on a regular basis but what is the benefit of a thru axle on a road bike? Does it take long to get the wheel off etc?
I like the fact that when the wheels are removed and replaced, tightened with the same torque, the disc calipers don't need decentred. And the wheels don't pull to the side under braking as some QR dropout frames do.
