Work sucks halls today

It's not in the better Columbus airplane tubing or SLX. So that's a lot of money for 3rd tier tubing.

hmm, hadn't noticed that, assumed it'd be spirit like the track frame

First proper glorious day in ages here, sunshine, light breeze, ideal temp. Took new (to me) bike out for first road ride, after some fettling efforts on the trainer to get the saddle position sorted. So, a pleasant 55km roll round the local road loop to get used to it all.

Turns out the handlebars are too narrow and a horrible bend, and the bar tape - despite being expensive - is awful; thin and hard feel. The Q rings are fine, just too big for me, but I'll replace the whole crank with a power meter most likely anyway. But all in all, very happy with it, and it was the bargain of the decade. So, home and into the shed to swap the offending parts out, which meant refreshing some cables and a decent clean up.

What sort of saddle is that? Presumably more comfortable than it looks!

Foolishly put my hand up for undertime today so was up before the partridge. Thankfully managed to bag a desk job for most of the day so I'm not too frazzled.

Had a grandmother who lived in Boston, so day trips to Skegness were a feature of visits. Struggle to remember which of the 2 was worst.

What sort of saddle is that? Presumably more comfortable than it looks!

Selle SMP Composit model. It’s one of the narrower ones they make, has almost no padding, just a carbon shell and rails with a leather cover. Despite all that, set up properly I find them really comfortable, 3-4 hours is no problem at all.

The frame is probably a tiny bit small for me really. The fork it came with had an almost but not quite slammed stem which was too small, but I knew someone with a spare Parlee original fork with the (much) longer steerer. For the first few rides I’m experimenting with the spacers and stem length and angle to find the right reach and saddle to bar drop, then yep the excess gets chopped.

The bars are 3T something, way too narrow for me, and badly wrapped to boot. Shifters were on the wrong spot on the bend, and there was a lot of bits of tape stuck on under the wrap to try and fill the dips and cracks…

It came with good wheels, and Dura Ace 9070 Di2 groupset with the Rotor cranks. I paid the equivalent of about 600 pounds. Couldn’t say no. 😀
