Tidying up...

Dearest Admin/Mods.

I feel I need to bring to your attention my ever-growing need for tidiness; everything in it's right place. There would appear to be an ever-growing habit of people posting what in my mind are non-Cafe posts in Cafe. I am not sure why they are not in Campaign or Commute, maybe because the posters think it will get more attention in Cafe

Anyway, if I wanted to see threads about people getting p***ed off at other people using the road I would visit those areas of the forum. But I don't.

Sorry for the moan. But I don't go into Commute or Campaign and start music threads....maybe I shall

I think there's a bit of confusion about whether cafe is for cycling related threads or not.
If there's a cycling related thread that doesn't fit in anywhere else, i post it in cafe, but I'm not sure whether it's meant to be non-cycle related only.
Maybe cafe is big enough to warrant splitting out into one cycle related and one not.

I think there is some confusion, but in my mind Cafe is for chatting about 'stuff' with a lighter side whether or not it's about cycling, not a techy question about bikes (Know How), not to have a rant about something (P&L), not to tell everyone about where you have been on your bike for the past week (Touring), not for having a go at your local council for not doing something (Campaign?), not to make an annoincement about a cycling event (a few places for this), etc.

If people gave some thought to where they posted then maybe it might not get as many replies but it might guarantee a better response. I have started making arsey comments in non-Cafe Cafe threads, maybe I shall now start replying with an indication which board it should be placed. I can out-do the pedants!

I think maybe P&L should possibly be renamed "Ranting", and a new forum for threads of the type "Today I went for a cycle and this and this and this happened and blah blah blah...", called "Bumbling". This is to be distinguished from touring, which is a multi-day expedition involving panniers and sleeping away from home.

Okay, I just checked and IMO there are 9 potential non-Cafe threads on the first page in Cafe (one of them has just been moved! )...

...I can understand if it's someone new to the forum but most of them by people who have been around for a good while.

I seem to recall Admin was wanting people to explore the forum a few months back. If everyone just posts stuff in Cafe 'other' areas of the forum are just going to end up under-used and become inhabited by tumbleweed. Then all we'll have is a mishmash of misdirected and misinterpreted ramblings - if someone asks a question about bikes in Cafe I tend to think I should respond in a light-hearted manner as I interpret it as a 'not serious' question, whereas if it was in e.g Know How I would know it was a serious question and respond accordingly.

And if people posted in the correct board it would result in more 'traffic' in those boards and more people would benefit by default of visiting more boards appropriately.
