Is it not just a case of getting better on the inclines?

What about just changing the gears next time they need replaced put a bigger cassette on got to be less than 800 quid. ^_^

I have got a compact with a 28T largest cog on the cassette which will get you up most hills. Some bike even come with a 32T which is enough to climb a wall. I also have a 12T-25T cassette that I use most of the time as it is relatively flat by me and I can change cassettes in about 10 minutes. If you can afford a 10 speed get one you will find that the extra gears will help with you cadence.

I live in west Cornwall with a lot of steep hills, i have recently bought a Raleigh Revenio 2 it has a 32t rear cassette, i'm a heavy chap but i can keep up with other riders no problem on steep hills, its also a relaxed geomatry bike so a bit more upright riding position, its a good bike with carbon forks, definatly worth a look, i got mine for £460 from mail order bikes, £700 from Wiggle !

Too late youve already bought it but IMO if you've got the space and money, go for it, n+1 is always good; enjoy your purchase
