All mine have been used and have been fine just get them checked over by a carbon specialist as soon as you get it or you can usually get a good idea of the true condition just by chatting to the last owner and seeing how honest they seem and looking over it in detail yourself

I still wouldn't. If spending £2k I'd want new. Not like in reality I could tell or benefit from the difference in components. But I like new stuff and peace of mind

I don't mind used Aslong as it's not abused, once it's been out on one ride it's used anyway so it makes no difference to me! Of you do buy used carbon don't pay cash in hand either get paypal protection! But a lot underestimate how strong carbon is

I certainly wouldn't buy a frame like you did that has been repaired and repainted. Luckily I don't have to. Happy with my lightly used carbon bike!

Um lots of food for thought here. I personally like the look of this bike but did note the 105 groupset rather than dura ace but as others have said i like the wheelset and frame. That said building a bike is an interesting option, never done it before but do all my own servicing etc so don't think it would be that bigger step to build one. Think i may have to do some more research.

Considered this? http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CBPXRT58ULT6800/planet-x-rt-58-ultegra-composite-road-bike

With £1200 left from your budget you could upgrade to your heart's content. Sell any bits you replace and you'd probably still come in at under £2k.

Funny you say that as i came across an error on planet x website earlier tonight. Shame it was corrected before i could buy one! just posted it in the other forum. https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/planet-x-website-error.175671/
