In that case, I wouldn't go near it. Anything non standard is going to be at a premium and who knows if they will be available in 10 years time.

Nothing wrong with the seatpost on my Defy, they've being making them/supplying bikes with them for years, they're not going to stop production anytime soon.

After many weeks of dithering, internet searches and reading reviews and checking gear calculators and geometry charts, I've gone with a type and make of bike I hadn't even considered, I've got it £400 cheaper than list price, my lbs has it in stock, (it's actually the only one they have in that size), and I will be picking it up on Monday. I think it will be well suited to the types of road I ride on and will be more than capable of some audax rides next year
