Time for action - Lorry drivers?

There is a HUGE thread which is ongoing in commute. It is our reaction to some of the needless cyclists deaths that have been occurring recently.

To summarise it, we are looking to produce a video and some other material that we hope will reach a wide audience of cyclists, highlighting the dangers of cycling down the left hand side of lorries (and of lorries left hooking cyclists). We think that this 'ground roots' produced material will be of interest to the media and thus get some publicity and get to those who need to see it the most.

We are currently organising the videoing and we are in need of a Lorry driver and a lorry (LGV) for filming (probably London). We have one possible offer, which I will be chasing up, however, any other offers of help would be appreciated.

I am sure we must have a lorry driver or two on here!

Could always contact a local firm to where your going to be filming it?
Im sure a firm would be up for it, give them some good press and advertisement.

But i would of thought contacting a few companies that go into London, or even a company where a driver has had an accident with a cyclist, would be interested to help.

Probably already been suggested though.

(failing anything here, put a post on Trucknet UK and you may find you get someone from there willing to help out)

Edit: Although, you wont be able to read this because im on your ignore list. Twat.

Joe24,

When ignored it is still possible to view individual posts from an ignored poster by clicking 'view post'. So where I think there might be something worthwhile I will occasionally look at what you have written.

However, your use of the word 'twat' suggests that I should use that option a little less...

However.... thanks for your suggestions. I have one possible already, and one poster who has contacts in the trucking industry, so hopefully we will be making contact. However, it would be nice to have someone from here who can help out themselves, or who has personal contacts who could help. Asking companies 'cold' is an option, but is often ignored, IME.

Owner drivers?
Could always ask my dad to ask the company he works for, but i dont think they go into the centre of london, just the outskirts.

Lee, if you could help out that would be great!

Would you have access to a unit that has class IV or V mirrors? Or would it be possible to retrofit your unit for the duration of the filming?

Would your employer be willing to help, support us?s I've said, I've PM'ed RT, but at this time of year people are often on holiday etc.
