Longer on a bike, or quicker than motorised transport?

For me 12 mins by bike, 4 mins by car. No bus/train etc to fall back on.

Time-wise I lose out by riding a bike, but I bet there are some big time winners on bikes!

25mins by car, 1hr 10 by bike (variable, depending on wind, laziness, amount of bevvys the night before etc ) so mine is a lot longer.

About the same. If I drive, I park out of town and walk the last leg. The major reason for this is there is no parking at the office for a minion like me, and parking in central Winchester just isn't an option. It also forces me to get exercise even if I don't cycle.

If I use the park and ride - the cheapest parking option bar parking out of town - I would win by cycling by about ten minutes (even including changing time).

If I catch a bus I have to put up with loudmouth kids and turn up to work quarter of an hour later than I usually arrive at my desk, despite leaving earlier.

Catching a train takes half an hour longer than cycling, because there isn't a direct line to Winchester from home.

Quicker than the bus. Quicker than any combination of train and bus and, probably, minicab.

Using the motorway it can be done in the car in 15 mins (my commute goes roughly north when mostly everyone else is going south, and vice-versa), using the route I take on the bike probably 20-25 minutes.

35 minutes by bike without making too much effort (9 miles, gently rolling roads)

But who cares how long it is anyway. I frequently take over an hour going to and from work, sometimes longer on the way home.

28 mins by tube (no changes) + 10min walk to tube station

30 mins by bike

Moving time can be twice as quick on bike. Add in changing, then about the same, but I don't need to go out training later on.....

If (and a big if) I had some where to park and the traffic was light, I'd be quicker by car than my shorter route (under 15mins) but even taking my longer route (under 25 mins) I'm quicker than quicker bus even assuming it doesn't get caught in traffic 3-5 minutes wait or more , 22 mins on the bus and 2 min walk. I like the dependability of bike times.

By bike into work, 7/8 mins, sometimes a few more. By bus, 15/20mins, by car about 15mins.
Im often overtaking cars or sitting behind them, and where the shop is, you would have to go around to come back because of the road system, and because theres a cut through for bikes it means i can just go through the middle
Bus takes for ever aswell, and if i ever take it i end up wanting to smash my head on the seat infront

Varies depending on time of day,now if you were asking about public transport then it would be a different matter.

So, a lot of us actually take longer to cycle to work, but still do it?

For me, because it's fun, good exercise, and cheaper than paying out £1+ a litre for petrol.

Across town is always quicker by bike, but found when I was commuting out of town it took about the same time as those who went by car...

For me it's 20 mins by bike.
20 mins+ by car & I need to get there early to get a parking space.
1h+ by bus.
