Tin foil freeview box?

I have given my old freeview box to XmrsIS (or else she'll never buy one but moan that she hasn't got one!) and I bought myself a new one.

As with all the freeview boxes I've had in the past, this one seems a little temperamental and doesn't like interference from other EM sources (e.g. the TV!).

Now, if the dustier parts of my memory serve me correctly (and we're talking 15 years worth of cobwebs here!), a Faraday cannot be penetrated by EM radiation.

So ... I'm thinking of carefully taking the box to bits, lining it with tin foil where I can, earthing the tin foil via the earth connection to the mains, and putting it back together again.

If there are any electronics/physics bods on here, do you suppose that will work?

Save yourself the hastle, take it back, get a new one.

Yep, that's what I have to do!

Anyway, I think this is the answer .. I'm not sure how, but it's definitely the answer:

No, I think you're on the right lines there with the hat.

You need to make one the same size and shape as that in your avatar though and wear it all the time, and I do mean ALL the time.
That'll work for sure ;)

Put the tv on the table. Put the digibox under the table. Put the foil on the bottom of the table.

Or get a metal table or put the tv on a tin tray or some other bit of equipment with no tuner (dvd player?) between the two.
