Thanks. Never seen that before. Moving in strange kind of way.

Quite! It is nice to see it all from another (albeit fictitious) view point.

I'm reminded of the young polar bear that drifted down alone on an iceberg to an island off the north coast of Iceland. They shot it, it's in the Husavik museum now, stuffed.

There is conjecture that if the Titanic hit the iceberg full-on instead of trying to avoid it, only the front area would have been crumpled up and the watertight bulkheads would have retained their integrity.

I am researching whether a distant relative went down with it.

The first passenger vessel to send an SOS. Radio operator told "you might as well, you might never get another chance".
She wasn't. The first ship to use SOS was the Cunard Liner Slavonia in 1909. They were sending the Marconi distress signal CQD (means All Stations : Distress) when the assistant suggested they also start sending out the SOS signal which became the standard after the sinking.

Can't help thinking that all this Titanic overkill is just a dry run, as it were, for the commemoration of Franz Ferdinand's assassination nearly 100 years ago.
