For 50 years of married life I worked..........sometimes very long hours. Mrs Dave looked after the kids and her sick mother (and mine later on).
So it just happened that I was out working and Mrs Dave looked after the house. Nothing chauvenistic........that's just how it was.
Now I am retired and (hopefully) beating the big 'C' that came calling I am taking my share of housework.
I have to say......and have told Mrs Dave so.............I had no idea some jobs could be such a pain.
Changed all the bedding earlier. All it is, is protector (no we don't pee the bed), base sheet, duvet and pillows. But what a pain. That bloody duvet DOES NOT WANT TO GO IN TO THE COVER!!!
So this is my tribute to Mrs Dave and all you ladies & lads who have done this, without moaning, week in-week out, for years.
I take my hat off to you :bravo:

I was astonished when I learned that the mattress gets turned from head to foot and top to bottom. I never knew!

Turn the duvet cover inside out, align the corners with the corner of the duvet and then pull it the right way again from top to bottom. Shake it out and jobs a good un.

Our chores are split. I get the dirty and tedious ones likes emptying bin, putting recycling out, making the bed, washing up and my wife gets the ones where she can go into detail like hoovering and cleaning the bathroom.

Oddly we both love to iron!

One of the many benefits of a water bed is not having to do that!

All this talk of housework reminds me of the time many years ago when my wife asked me to pick up our Hoover from the electrical shop where it had been in for repairs.

Upon entering the shop the lady behind the counter pointed to a line of half-a-dozen vacuums and asked me to point out which one was mine?

I couldn’t resist it.

“Hmmmm. I’m not sure. I’d probably recognise the sound though. Have you got a room out the back with Sky Sports on the TV? If I sit out there and you fire them up one at a time I’m sure I’ll recognise mine when I hear it”

I could see the internal battle between her wanting to punch me, but not wanting to lose her job.

Graham

P.S. After 25 years in the military I more than pull my weight with the household chores. But I just couldn’t resist the windup.
