Story time !

Basically some guy driving a single decker comes speeding past me doing what 40 in a 30 zone around a corner. He was so close that i felt myself getting sucked towards the bus and once it past as i had had to turn left suddenly found myself launched towards the kerb. Luckily I wasnt going as fast as normal but jeez that's the closest I have been to eating tarmac.

Anyway the bus is long gone but 1.5 miles futher along he is waiting to come out of a junction into traffic.

Then I notice he has a nice little Bluetooth headset on which from the glowing Blue Led indicated to me it was turned on.

Anyway long story short - Should I be asking the Bus company is this company policy for the drivers to have Bluetooth headsets which will distract them from driving.

In my experience bus companies don't care. I didn't even recieve a reply to a letter I wrote last time one came right up close in a similar situation (minus the phone).

However, if I was on the bus and the driver was chatting away on the phone I would find that a little rude, so both from a saftey and proffesional point of view it's worth questioning.

Write to the bus company stating all the facts, time, date, place, route etc. And tell them you want a reply or you will go to the local paper (no-one wants bad publicity)

A grovelling apology usually comes back.

although not buses ,My local council (who I worked for until Friday) also have a ban on phones full stop, hands free or otherwise. I would send them a mail at least you then will have some chance of them doing something , if you don't contact them they will never know about the problem !
