To Be or Not To Be

Shakespeare's rhetorical question now has a definitive answer.

The Prince of Denmark is Not To Be.

"Denmark’s Queen Margrethe, Europe’s only reigning queen and the continent’s longest serving monarch, has stripped four of her eight grandchildren of their titles, the palace announced...descendants of His Royal Highness Prince Joachim will only be able to use their titles of Count and Countess of Monpezat, their previous titles of Prince and Princess of Denmark ceasing to exist,”

This has not been done for any wrong doings and there will not be any falling out within the family. Prince Jochims family live in France and carry out very few Royal engagements. Countess Alexander sons are both old enough to understand the reasoning behind this and it will not effect them. Prince Jochim has always taken a back seat in Royal matters and left it to his brother, the crown Prince. Joachim was basically a farmer and his estate is not far from me.

The decision to do it is not in question. The way it was executed could have been a lot better.

So all is well in Denmark, or will be and the head of state is just doing her job.

The timing was quick though and no warning was given. That saves arguements.

It would really suck to be merely the "Count of Monpezat". What would the neighbours think?!?

If they mishear it they'll think you make almond flavoured confectionery.
