Now I'm a bit of a retro fan, I'll be the first to admit; my Zaskar is my favourate bike, I love my old Saiko divers watch over my fancy Swiss 30th pressie, my old Land Rover gets more attention than my new Volvo........and most of my friends probably agree with me.......

.....but, when it comes to the awsomness that is the RonHill Trackster, they all think I'm mad and wont be seen dead near me in them.

I may be an "ex-sqaddie", whos chosen outdoor kit is a Buffalo Special 6 and RonHills, but its not like I wear them all the time, and I certainly have my fair share of Gore-tex et al

Am I wrong? Am I stuck in the dark ages? Or am I right? Surely the Trackster is one of the most functional, multi sport piece of kit?

I ride in them - on top of lycra
I mountaineer in them - under gore-tex
I paddle in them
......etc

....they get wet, but dry quickly, are very hard wearing, warm yet light........

Anyone back me up??

I used to run in them and a great bitof functional kit but you look like a cross between a PE teacher and Rudolph Nureyev wearing them in Civvie Street.

I have a pair of bikesters too and they are great value at only £10. Seem to have stopped making them though

I knew I wasn't the only one!!

Blue and red trackster classics for me too; two pairs, one with the stirups cut off.....

I can understand people not particularly liking the style, but have never understood the love / hate thing. Bit like Marmite I guess (love that too!).

MrsCBD really hates them; mind you if I had an ass and thighs like hers I'd probably hate them too! (love her really, and preggie too so she's alowed to get bigger!)

Plenty can be found on eBay guys; bikesters tend to be £20odd and Tracksters half that...

Yup, bikesters or tracksters for me when it's too cold for shorts. Always black.

4 pairs, commute 41 miles a day. only ride the bike in them. all have stirrups cut off. you can get wet in them but not suffer. i'm a big fat lad with arse of a bus, need to stay away from lycra.

I've got some Bikesters - did they all come with a Scotchlite strip on the back of the lower leg?

Ron Hill is part of the fell runners uniform. Every community up North has a least a dozen small, wiry old blokes who always dress in New Balance trainers, Tracksters and Berghaus fleeces, often topped off with a shaven head.
