Oh yes, I've had the same pair of Tracksters for... easily 25 years and they still look good, no signs of wear at all. I used to wear them a lot for MTBing but the waist cord makes them not brilliant for cycling as they tend to slide down at the back, no matter how tight you do the cord. You have to pull it through the clamp thingy then wind it around the clamp a few times.

Worn under insulated ski pants, rolled up to the knees they are the perfect base layer and just worn rolled up they make excellent walking britches. Worn with a Helly Hansen Lifa top they are the perfect all-purpose outdoor garment. Quite flattering too as they make your legs look muscly and they exaggerate your packet.

I'll back you up there.

Trackster Classic man meself - fantastic for that short period between summer and the depths of winter we know as August.

Wish i'd brought mine today. It's cold and wet out there.

They do tend to slip down at the back when cycling for some distance, i recall. Otherwise, great all-rounders.

Ex squaddie here as well
ride in them both on the upright and the trike great bit of kit black with white piping
as for the negative views on them from my workmates i cant be held responsible for there narrow minded view on life
same workmates that cant understand why i enjoy cycling into work in all weathers and cant get there head round the massive savings i make by not owning a car. just before moaning about the priceof petrol car tax and insurance
not owning a car how do you cope is there usual question

I have a pair .. somewhere. Haven't worn them since I acquired the nerve to wear proper cycling tights in public, though - they don't feel like lycra and they don't look like "normal" clothes. Fall between two stools for me, really.

YMMV of course, and judging by the posts preceding mine it clearly does.

I wear my bikesters when commuting to work in cold weather... a bit less revealing when walking into work than cycling tights, like I wear on other rides.

I wore my Bikesters today, shorts underneath of course. As yesterday (my first ride in 2.5 weeks after a crash) in shorts people were telling me I shouldn't be riding due the bruise on my leg. Nice and toasty it was too

As fnarr says, they're less revealing when you have to get off the bike in public. I also have a pair of (over) shorts (made from bikesters) for this reason, mainly used when going shopping etc.

edit: and I think you get bonus points for scalping other cyclists whilst wearing them!

A very British brand. Didn't Ron Hill win gold at the 1970(?) Commonwealth games while wearing a string vest?

Trackster trek in black with white pipng for me as winter riding wear, and for open canoeing. They are a bit more generously cut than "proper" tracksters which is useful for those of us of more generous proportions.... and available at reasonable price from Pete Bland Sports on the internet when they have a sale on.

Match them up with a Buffalo jacket for cold weather activities and you have a great combo for all sorts of outdoors stuff.

Another (slightly ex-services - TA only) RH wearer here too. I used the black (dayglo green piping and inserts) tracksters for years in the Alps - the only thing which didn't seem to attract crampon spikes - and for fell-running as I'm not one of those fell-runners who insists on shorts and a Helly-hansen longsleeved top all year round .

Then I moved to Switzerland and got addicted to the early compression tights for running in and by the time I came home tracksters seemed to have disappeared or a least moved upmarket
