Leaving early tomorrow morning for a 6 day trip from Passau to Vienna along the Danube path with my two youngest.
Just bought a ContourHD and handlebar mount so hope to post a few videos when I get back.

Enjoy. I did this in May. Weather was fantastic. Keep an eye on the kids. The path takes you down a few busy main roads in parts. Beautiful country though. The Austrian drivers are very courteous in towns but maniacs outside of that. They pass much closer to you than UK drivers, if that's possible. The police will pull you for cycling on the pavement as well.

Enjoy the ride. I'll be cycling to Passau from Donauschingen after completing the French section of the Eurovelo six route eastwards from Beaune this summer. Look forwards to seeing your ride report.

Video here

Not a very exciting video but it gives a good flavour of the Danube cycle path, especially the first few days from Passau.
I'll post a few more when I have time

I am considering doing the same path as much as possible in the opposite direction Wien from Budapest. Did you find any maps of your route? Care to share where you found them?

The best guidebook/map in my opinion is the Bikeline series. The Wien - Budapest section is covered by part 3 but I think it is only available in German.
This is their website. or get it from Amazon. The maps in the guide are excellent and you won't need any others unless you plan to go off the path.

The Danube Cycleway is a useful little guide which covers the entire route from source to Budapest.

I would get the Bikeline guide for the maps and the Danube cycleway book if you want a guidebook and don't read German.
