Yes it's cold, yes your hands can start to sting after a while but please dont cycle along the Jamacia Road in rush hour with your hands in your pockets to keep them warm.

Please just buy some gloves, you cockwomble (TM Greg Collins)

I realy dont care if you hurt yourself but your selfish actions put other road users in danger.

The derivation of cockwomble can be traced back to the Tragic Hipster Part II thread, I think the OED should be notified of a new word.
Yeah but does riding with your hands in your pockets perceptibly increase the danger to other road users....

Wobbling in the road hit slight bump, cannot get hands out of pockets to stabilize the bike, rider falls of on main road in rush hour traffic, face plants on the road worse case hits car or ends up in front of a car. Yeah I would say its pretty dumb and causing a risk.

He had both hands in his pockets whilst riding on the main road in rush hour.

I had to overtake him, and gave him a very wide berth, but still worried that he could crash at any moment.

some old fella on a folder who gets wiped out when the car swerves to avoid the cockwomble . it might happen. probly wouldn't but it might
Want to quantify the odds?

Only person really at risk is the gloveless cockwomble, and they seem an ideal candidate for a Darwin Award.

Only insofar as passing cyclists all look round to get a good view instead of riding their own ride and paying attention to where they're going themselves.

I used to ride home from scouts with a can of Coke and a bag of chips (it was the 70s, before they were unhealthy).

The only way I could do this was by riding with one or no hands. After dark, age 12/13/14, often in the rain and on some quite major roads.

I'm still alive, which proves it is perfectly safe.

I should add that although I didn't wear a helmet (not widely available in that decade) I did wear a fairly absurd Sea Scout hat. Although I never fell off while wearing it, I'm in no doubt it saved my life on more than one occasion. Often by up to 16%.
