Slightly OT
Had a passenger in a CHavriolet spit at me, then a few minutes later - there he was in a traffic queue
Stopped and politely introduced myself, and after a short discussion about his behaviour I was informed that the Police "would not do anything" - So I asked him how he was with blood tests?
Bemused look...
Then explained that as he was unequivocally guilty, showed him my NHS ID badge and explained that it would be treated formally as an assault on an NHS staff member and that I was entitled to know whether he was carrying Hep B, Hep C, HIV, or any other infective disease, and that it was a statutory right on my part and he could not refuse to comply.
I would therefore be demanding that his medical records be checked, and that he be asked for blood samples and that these would need to be taken over a period of several weeks.
He started to look pale.....Then when I explained that some would also be arterial involving a 9" long larger bore needle into the femoral artery at the top of his leg he went even paler.
Thanked him for his time, and suggested that it might be worthwhile contacting his GP in advance so they could put things in place for him.
One very worried looking Chav
