Calling people "the biggest, skiving f**kwit walking" is not a nice thing to do, would you do that if that person had to take time off to get treatment for cancer?

Err no, of course not.

If that question is aimed at me, you've got the wrong end of the stick. Such slagging off/bitching usually comes from the top management/director level, not the likes of us who can't afford to go off sick so if we do, it means we really are quite poorly.

I've got a sticking cold myself today but I'd like to have a full salary packet next month ta very much.

Not good really, I think modern society needs to change their attitudes to sickness.

Get Well Soon Sandra6.

Yes indeed Gromit. My #1 daughter goes to work and picks bugs up from staff and customers and brings them home. Her employer expects staff to attend under (nearly) all circumstances.

GWS Sandra6 :hugs:

As long as I breathe, I attack.

My emplyer is the same, with an in house doc/medical centre they expect you to turn up unless your dead, guy just returned after heart surgery and cant work so they have him laminating all day.people have been known to be given boxes of bolts to count ..................
then theres the return to work interview, have 3 occasions of in a year and you get a black mark no matter how valid.

Well enough to use a Laptop?? you're well enough to go to work..

Mr 6 has just informed me that I will be sacked forthwith for being well enough to update my facebook status while off sick.
Guess I best call work and tell them I'll be in tomorrow and hope nobody read this thread.
I am feeling a bit better, have managed a slice of toast and a cup of tea and I feel the same temperature all over, so that's a start.
Thank you all for your "kind" words:wacko:

Good news then. Tea and toast have been accepted

When I worked in the summer, my employer was really nice when I got sick, he said get well soon and asked me if I was ok when I came back to work.
Have a speedy recovery Sandra 6 :hugs:

I'm afraid when I was in management I assumed that every sick call was someone one the skive, sorry everyone:sad: but I think managers are made to feel that only death or something more serious, would stop you from coming to work and you expect the same from everyone else.

Really, properly poorly sick, I've had to call in work and say I can't make it in.
Wouldn't it be nice if they actually said "aw, are you ok/" Instead of making you feel like a major inconvenience??
I can't even take a paracetamol for the pain in my head as I can't hold down the water to take them.
I now expect to be cheered up immensely.
Thank you.

Apparently the Jeremy Kyle show is compelling viewing others say it will soon have you back at work.

There.. I have just noticed Hitchington beat me to it:angry::blush:

Today I am feeling a little better, I've not thrown up again anyway.
I'm going back to work this afternoon, only a four hour shift.
I wouldn't mind the duty manager's attitude so much if he hadn't been off himself for three days with a cold!!!
