The beacons is something on my mind as well. I've been there quite a lot and I'm sure, like you say, it will be fantastic on a bike. Depending on the gearing you have you may be pushing it up a few of the hills though

Saw these two lama's whilst along the military road. I love animals and their grass was about a centimetre long. I kindly obliged and fed them some lovely grass just out of reach for them 20 minutes later they wanted more but had to continue!

My view as I waffled down that crab jacket potato, lovely. I went for a swim just to the right of that.

Sorry but I never like telling people about trips/challenges until it's set in stone about doing it. It won't be until mid next year until I know but I just thought I'd give a little inclination. Refer to my previous posts and it will give a bit of insight.

Sounds like you had a lot of fun. I have two gear suggestions. The first is that you were carrying too much for a bike like this. If you have any spare money, use it to reduce the load (both weight and volume). That will also help with your second issue: gearing. Bikes of this vintage do not have really low gearing. Depending on the drivetrain you may be able to lower the gearing a bit, but a lower luggage weight also helps a lot when climbing. Keep having fun............

Thanks for the advice willem but I actually found this out the hard way:pump: ...broken rear hub as you may know which was probably caused with the weight, but I 'couldn't' just turn around so continued on. Also the hills, I knew they would be a problem with only a 10 speed but it wasn't too bad (using the term loosely there). It was just a completely unplanned trip and the only bike I had so had to be done, which I do not regret in the slightest.

I'm thinking of getting a more suited bike for when I go again as of course, I'm now hooked

That bike will take the weight. No problem. It,s possibly the rear wheel that won't!
Yes lighter weight if you can and distribute it around the bike a bit more if poss. The curve on that front fork shows it's a comfy ride, especially steel.
The bike is fine.
