CRB is defunct.
" The Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) and the Independent Safeguarding Authority (ISA) have merged into the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). CRB checks are now called DBS checks."

As far as I can tell, yes. CRB has always been a contentious subject with me, I have always thought them completely pointless, it would appear that others thought so too. I'm not sure what the difference is in the new system, I have not had time to look into it.

I agree about it being a complete scam... those 'jobs for the boys' board members associated with central government who got all the money from setting up and running CRB checks must have made millions... Miss A_T had to have 4 separate ones for different authorities and organisations... they told her they weren't transferable... I couldn't believe it at the time but she said she checked it out.
