Today I realised my favorite feeling associated with cycling.

After a long ride in the wet today I got home, had a shower and sat down to watch a film with a massive fry up and a beer. Lovely stuff.
What's yours?

Same for me too, nothing beats a good hot shower after a ride, especially after getting soaked. I could leave the fry up though. Fish & Chips all the way!

Although not far behind comes free-wheeling through puddles with your feet off the pedals and shouting WWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

I Cycled home from work in the rain and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a first wet ride for my bones Foska training jacket. It kept me dry apart from at the seams below my elbows.

Well you're a commuter so therefore cycle in any weather! I have to say if i wasn't in training I would give a ride a miss if it's raining, running is a different matter though, quite enjoy that in the rain.

The times when you find yourself quite alone, a deserted road, not a sound except your wheels spinning and nature. Quite magical.

Mind you on Sunday got home after 74 miles on the club run absolutely ravenous to discover my wife had made lasagne. I can still taste the first mouthful now.

I enjoy cycling in the rain when it's quiet. I'll second the peace when the tyres are hissing on the road, with just the sound of the rain drops on your clothing, and the occasional animal scurrying around when its dark.

Middle of nowhere. Just you and your bike. The occasional other-worldly sound of a lapwing. No traffic. The feeling that you've earned your flapjack. Thirty miles to go and you know it's going to be a pleasure.

I also like the 'afterglow' from cycling a challenging distance/terrain....but the best for me is that 'totally in the moment' feeling you can, when your brain calms down and you can fully appreciate the beauty of where you are at that moment. My head is always in a completely different state after a bike ride to the one it was in before one.
