It's at Cafe Rouge in Reading. No expense is being spared, none whatsoever.

And as its my firm, and I am the only employee it's not going to take long.

But, I am having bouillabaisse, and a glass of Stella.

No expense spared? And you're going to Cafe Rouge in Reading? I don't think I'd like to know where you go when you're being slightly less extravagant - the Harvester in Bracknell perhaps?

But he's going to Cafe Rouge.. they won't sell proper ale. A large glass of burgundy or claret perhaps, rather than some foreign wife-beater's lagerbeer ?

I think you are underselling yourself. Having just googled the matter, I note you can claim up to £150 against tax per head for an annual function. My wife is my sole employee and I am the director. So, we must plan our annual event.

The vote this year was not to go to the [very expensive] Chinese that we'd been to for the last 3 years [thank god for that] but a Italian restaurant on Grey Street in Newcastle. Apparently it's a national chain called Zizis... never been but it's their choice!

We're having ours tomorrow, at a Sicilian place on the Bishopthorpe Road (street just on the edge of city centre, muesli-belt independent shops).

Tonight is a benefit concert for our charity, so NT and I are going along to volunteer (either on the door, or dishing out wine). One of the musicians is my recycling colleague, David, who plays piano. He's organised 4 seasonal concerts, and tonight is winter music...

Ooh I got taken there once for lunch on Boxing Day, a few years ago. An ambition achieved, a box ticked as they say. I had Angle Delight, with Dream Topping and 100's n 1000's on top.
