Ooh, I'm hoping to be in Vienna this autumn some time. Any cake shop recommends, @vernon? My sister told me about a place near the Dom but it was a while ago and I can't remember.

We are planning to go by train and then take the Danube ferry to visit friends in Bratislava.

All Konditerei serve good cakes as a minimum standard. Even the
supermarkets sell cakes superior top most ones available in the UK.

I used a Konditorei who's name I can't recall as a warm up for the real action at AIDA cafe-konditorei. There's lots of branches in Vienna.

Here you go folks. Yesterday's cake parade.

The top one is a Sachertorte clone. The next down is a strawberry mousse and chocolate cake bought in a standard Konditorei. Three third one is a raspberry bomb. And the last one defies description other than it was nut based with complementary overtones of perfection.

Edit. The last cake is a Beidermeier cake.
