I, entirely due to my own idiocy, put myself in a forced pothole jumping situation today.
While the bike herself performed admirably, the skirtguard did not rise to the occasion. It popped off the mudguard and entangled itself under the chainguard around the rear axle. In untangling it I managed to pull off the sprocket circlip, thus rendering the bike unrideable and forcing a pre-work trip to the LBS round the corner.
One thing that cheered me up was finding out that at 8.30am there was a queue of commuters picking up, dropping off and popping in. London really is becoming a cycling city!
