Sisson' s of Pocklington's porcine product packed a post prandial surprise.

It was the first pie to contain coarsely chopped pork rather than the finely minced contents than others. A subtly flavoured jelly and a crisp well cooked crust completed the package. Well worth the £1.20.

Nice idea for a thread. I like pies and will plan a pie-shaped ride soonest.

I say that does look rather good. My brother is a resident of Pock and has suggested that that is the one to go for.

My cousin is now 55 and lives in Cherry Burton - so not too far away. But I'm not sure he keeps in touch with the school. He'd probably pre-date your brother by quite a few years. He's a farmer - it's great farming land round there.
...and the cycling is sublime.

Miles of almost deserted lanes. Bliss

Oh sh*t, that's the cat out of the bag........

I do a fair bit of cycling out in East Yorkshire and love it apart from going up and down Garrowby Hill. The county is due several expieditions in the coming months.

It's immeasurably better than the ones served by Burtons in Pock. I like the place and stay over and get drunk several times a year at a pal's there usually after attending a gig at the arts centre.
Nice one, Vern

I will visit Sissons......I know Pocklington reasonably well. My cousin went to school there (with Ade Edmondson).

Avoid Burtons, see above. I am saddened by the appearance of a Costa coffee shop/bar/emporium thingy there though. It wasnt there in December.
My, that looks good, Vernon!

Can I just say I appreciate your extreme dedication and self denial in giving us the gen on these pies. :hello:
Yes - the self denial is impressive

Son #2 potentially has a cricket match v Pocklington school this spring. I am hoping for an away draw so I can give Sissons a try. Maybe the school can get some in for the teas?

Never been to that area, too far to bike over unfortunately

Wonderful !

Jesse Smith's in Tetbury used to do similar. They'd be coming out of the oven warm at about lunchtime and I'd often pick one up before they injected the jelly into it. Meltingly delicious fresh from the oven.
