Same here, knackered on the way in and had to pedal downhill at one point - but out-ran Superman on the way home along with a few cars too (with a couple of spoke-plinking moments as tree bits got flung up into the bike gubins - and had to avoid a few flying plastic shopping bags seeking me out from nowhere!!).

Bloody good fun ...

Flew into work this morning with the wind behind me, was expecting a major effort to get home into wind but it had eased a bit by the time I left work, I still had to put a lot of effort in at times though.

Not so bad in the SE but the wind, gloom and cool temperatures on the ride home made it feel more like mid October than late May.

Mid afternoon yesterday cycling S West out of central London was horrible - I swear one long stretch on the flat was as tough as Box Hill! Though the worst bits were going at 90 degrees to the wind and being shifted across the road by gusts though side streets.

I concur. I was a defeated man yesterday.

I chickened out yesterday and took the car but it just makes me grumpy. The forecast said slightly less wind today so today I decided to JDI.

Mostly a brisk tail wind in although I did have a scary moment on the Wearmouth Bridge with a blustery side wind. Unless it eases off I'm in for a tough ride home though, a head wind all the way along the coast. Still, apparently it's good for me .

Took the new bike out for a quick blast, get used to these new shimano gears. where i live is quite leafy, plenty of cover and happily got her up to 24 on a nice stretch when i turn for home at a roundabout and hit a headwind all the way back. evil, evil wind!
lol
shame my commute to work has a wonderfully open stretch of farmers land, seems the wind just takes it in turns to hit you from all sides there.
