The cake, contrary to my expectations, was a rip roaring success. Making it was the messiest baking experience to date. I managed to get cake mix, raw and partially cooked onto: the work surfaces, the front of the washing machine, the kitchen floor, the carpet in the living room, the front of my trousers and the bottom of the oven. The raw mix tasted salty making me think that I'd used a tad too much bicarbonate of soda.

On getting it into school and cut into, the inside of the cake proved to be just as the recipe claimed, moist, fudgey and flavoursome. The kids scored it at 11/10 and I had colleagues queueing to get a slice which I grudgingly dispensed in anorexic portions. My colleagues' scores matched that of the kids.

I am in awe of myself.

I made this last week. I am sure it counts as one of my five a day.

Far too healthy!

Now had it been a pork terrine tart garnished with quails eggs I might have been tempted.

I have never learned to bake. If I did, I would be completely spherical. As it is, I am holding steady at "slightly too short for my weight".

I don't bake regularly else I'd be hyper-spherical.

Thirty five years have passed between my most recent cake and it's predecessor.
