There have been a fair few people off work sick recently apparently due to tonsillitis, I have been knocked bandy for the past 8 days by what I thought was flu with a very swollen and extremely sore throat.
On returning to work yesterday, by car , I was informed it was probably the tonsillitis that was currently doing the rounds. I refused to believe it as I had mine removed when I was still at junior school but it appears you can still catch tonsillitis, just the chances of catching it are reduced.

My appetite came back on Sunday and this morning I coughed up some nice green phlegm, so should be back on two wheels tomorrow, l will no longer have to walk past my bike :bicycle:, all packed and ready to go since Sunday, on the way to the car .

You all, err, rather friendly with each other at work then?

Not that friendly , we just work in a building with a low quality air conditioning system that transports any airborne illnesses very effectively around the whole building.

I have used to work in a similar building there were no opening windows anywhere, in the summer we sweated, in the winter we sweated as the heating was then on full blast.

Germs used to spread like wildfire, and whole sections would be off at the same time. In my current job we have opening windows :wahhey: , and the workforce is much healthier.

It is amazing how some building designers/architects seem to think that a building with lots of glass but no opening windows is a good thing and that we are all happy to breath recycled air, although it looks nice.

I've been down with it for a few days.

Didn't do myself any favours by kidding myself I was almost over it on Saturday and doing the Cheam and Morden Hilly 50. I have felt dire since!

I totally understand, especially with all this lovely sunshine, I really want to get back on the bike but am just about resisting it waiting until tomorrow at the earliest to ensure I am over it.

There's been a cold/sore throat doing the rounds in our building. I'm normally quite good at shifting colds, but on week 1 it was like swallowing razor blades, and on week 3 the throat was better but I still had a persistent cough.
Went back to the cycle commuting last week and found it really tough. Just ramping it up slowly now.

Took a nice easy ride in this morning, apart from one section when I came up behind a guy on a racer on his drops pedalling hard into the headwind. He even sped up when he realised there was someone behind him catching up.
The last thing I wanted was to race anyone in my "weak as kitten" state but even at my reduced speed I caught him easily, thankfully just at the point I needed to decide whether to stay behind or go past he turns off.
Would have gone past due to the wet roads and his lack of mudguards combined with my jacket looking like new after being washed at the weekend.
