What tyre and what rim?

A lot of tyres aren't as big as they say they are.

I don't know about the tyres and rims, but you might have a problem with clearance. I used to have (nominal) 2.1" IRC Mythos tyres on my MTB but have now fitted a 2.2" Specialized tyre on the rear. It looks huge compared to the old tyre so I measured the old one and it turns out to be nearer 1.8". The new 2.2" tyre almost rubs on my seat stays. If the wheel went out of true, it definitely would.

Thanks guys, they are a mixture of rims actually.

I put this same thread on another forum which seemed to cause some conflicting views....

After all that though, there's a chance that my rear hub is shot (will find out from the LBS today.)
If that is the case, I'll delay the build by a month and just get a new wheelset otherwise I'll just run with them as they are.

There's no issue with clearance, my Bonty 2.25's have masses of clearance around them, I'm pretty sure that even a 2.7 would be fine (although I suspect that my legs wouldn't be )
