That may be YOUR interpretation, but cafe is, by and large, irreverent, schoolboy (dare I say, childish) comments and 'wit' (again, that is open to interpretation) but snidey posters (and we know who they are, it doesn't need spelling out) like to disrupt, insult and belittle with no other aim than to cause offence, in MY opinion.

I think you're wrong, and the threads dumped in SP&C are evidence of that, along with the casual sexism. But seeing as this is the café, we can just agree to disagree.

Fair call.

The thing is Cafe is supposed to be 'generally' light-hearted. Exactly as you might get in........a cafe. Sit down for 10 mins and have chat and a laugh with some pals.
You 'might' talk politics, religion, etc but in real life if you were always on the soap box arguing the toss with everyone people would soon get up and walk out the moment you came in.
Most of usual suspects when it comes to offering snide comments and personal jibes, in real life, would probably do nothing of the sort if sat across a table from their victim.

It detracts from the general tenor of the forum IMO and I wonder how many people have a look at it and then just move on.

There are always exceptions of course. @rocky and @Mad Doug Biker deserve everything they get

It is a bit ridiculous. I can imagine that the posters who claim to be oracles of all matters and decide to jibe for a reaction are indeed wallflowers in reality.

Does it bother me? A little. I should only have to explain myself for clarity. Not because someone else doesn't believe that something happened in my life. Maybe their life is that dull that they can't possibly believe someone else had a moment of excitement in theirs.

Unfortunately it's the way of Forums, and cycling sometimes crosses it's lines with those who cannot think of anything better than bullying someone through a medium which has little to no comeback. Shame.

At the end of the day, it's a series of words, read on my phone screen when sitting on the toilet, so you're not all that important to me. However, there is a wealth of knowledge when you pass through the Belgians who want to troll, so I'll continue to frequent.

Seems to me those who start threads have been subject to rather too much criticism recently.

My parking ticket thread is a good example.

In an attempt to head off the inevitable, I deliberately asked for the 'experience of others' in relation to private parking tickets.

What I got - among the genuine replies - was criticism of my diet, working practice, use of a motor car and conduct in general.

Nor am I alone, I've noticed @Crandoggler and @Accy cyclist get similar treatment.

The author of a thread should expect to be questioned, and occasionally criticised.

But the questions and criticism need to be relevant, reasonable, and constructive, not just personal sniping.

New threads and subsequent posts are what makes this forum - it hasn't got a lot else to offer.

It would be a pity if potential thread starters were put off by the thought of too many negative replies.

Feel free to agree or disagree.
casual sexism, great!

Depends though. Some op are full of crap and need it pinting it out.
Or half pinting, dependent on the level of twat trying to call them out. But of course, you're one of the oracles aren't you, so you know best.
