i've had an interim payment to replace my bike, written off during my crash in september. they offered to let me keep the bike, plus payment of just over £1300.
as the only thing damaged was a frameset for which I paid £50 second hand, i think i've not done too bad (i haven't lied to anyone to exaggerate anything; indeed they even sent a loss adjuster). in fact, it feels like i've won some sort of battle…
sadly the money won't immediately go on a new bike, as i'm between jobs at the mo, but i'm sure once the personal injury side of things is sorted, there will be a nice new n+1 headed my way. and i can always build the bits from the crashed bike up onto a bike currently set up as fixed, should i need a perfect commuter again any time soon …
