Tooth fairies and kids books

Sorry for the double question!
Our eldest (5) has got her 1st wobbly tooth. What's the going rate for tooth fairies these days?

Secondly, both me and the OH are getting tired of reading them (other is 2) kids books that are all moralistic. No matter what book it is, is has some moral at the end. All well and good, but EVERY book? Anybody recommend any books for our two that are just fun books for kids - maybe them getting into scrapes or fun things to do etc?

surely it's a tenner?!? That's what I usually say... but the parents tend to throw me kind of looks.


what ages are they? 5 and 2.... i reckon you should dig out yer old Viz collection and read a few bedtime stories from those

It's £1... or at least in our house. And whatever you do, don't one day re-find the matchbox in your wardrobe with all the teeth in it you've remembered to save, pull it out and exclaim "hey look kids, it's all your old teeth"...
And the books with the morals... yeah, totally with you on that. Though mine are older now (teens/late teens/twenties) I can also remember gettig frustrated at the moral messaging. Can't a book just be for fun or adventure sometimes? Not everything has to make us feel guilty about the morality we should aspire to but haven't yet reached.

It was a quid for "normal teeth" but more (I think a fiver) for front teeth.

In my increasingly decrepit state it's likely to be me losing my teeth so I'm going to remind the kids that all my teeth are important and that a fiver is the starting point for the tooth fairy

After losing one of his teeth, friend's five year old recently said that although he knew it was really his parents, he would like the money so was going to put the tooth under his pillow anyway. Classy boy.
