The old version was tired beyond exhaustion and long past its sell-by (having had a fantastic run earlier in its time) - I'll certainly be trying the new one out, and hope it succeeds.

I like Top Gear but I will not be watching this.

Should have let it die rather than having Evans present it.

I'll give it a try, but I'm not expecting much.

That said, the "original" show had started running out of steam, with the last series feeling like there were a lot of features that would never have seen the screen in earlier years of the show. The comedy and interaction between Clarkson, May and the Hamster was all that carried it in a few shows, but it remained about the only bit of prime time BBC output aimed at my demographic.

Evans is a quality presenter, and genuinely creative, I've got a lot of time and respect for the guy.

Looking forward to the new take on the show, and I hope it doesn't just play to stereotypes (LeBlanc as the dumb Yank who can't handle corners, Schmitz as the efficient German etc).

I'll be watching. I want to like it, but I find Chris Evans to be a grating, annoying, attention seeking, me me me, spoilt brat.
I have to admit that his Radio 2 show, mildly irritating that it is, is not as bad as I once feared it would be - so I live in hope that perhaps he can carry off this TG thing.

Yes I know it's a cycling forum but I happen to like everything with wheels on. Cars, motorbikes, trucks, the lot!

sounds how i feel as well

Hmmmm; a chance to freshen up the slightly stale old format, and have they bothered? No.
So we are left with the same old TG, but with Chris Evans as the main presenter, with a variety of bit part co-presenters. None of the chemistry that the previous presenters had is on show so far. Dross.

I'm watching this and thinking 'what is the point'

'Just what?'

And Gordon Ramsay, quite smug.

Not feeling the love for this programme.

I guess I really did want to like it. As above, it was an opportunity to freshen up a tired format, which had worked extremely well, but run out of steam.

Instead, they've recycled it, but in such a cheesy way. Chris Evans, who I have no problem with usually, grates. Matt is fine, between them no chemistry.

Even the great camera work of the Top Gear team comes across as cheesy, recycling action shots, slo-mo's and stills which they do extremely well, and which when they first did them were amazing, now just add to the impression of BBC feeling that they can remake TG by putting all the ingredients back into a bowl and stirring.

Epic fail.
