Dreadful. It was no different to how it was left off. A format I enjoyed many series ago but gave up a few years ago as it had become stale.

Missed opportunity to refresh the format.

Well according to Evans, his guests, Zoe Ball, Steve Wright and numerous others on R2 today, the first show was an absolute triumph.

It's lucky for Clarkson that Oisin Tymon didn't press charges, otherwise the upcoming Amazon Prime series would have had to have been a fly on the wall documentary from HMP Leicester, or somewhere.
Prison time, for a common assault? I don't think so! Prisons are so stretched these days that you have to be a VERY bad boy, or girl, to go there. Or stupid enough to stick 2 fingers up at all the cushy alternatives that are offered as a first resort.

At the end of the day the Clarkson haters got what they wanted...

i was fed up with the old show but the Specials were superb tv..
all a bit fools and horses..great and then it died...

Racially aggravated assault, I think you'll find. And the fact that Tymon required A&E treatment for concussion, bruising and a split lip takes it into GBH territory.

As others have said, the chemistry will take time to bed in. By the looks of it, two presenters will be hosting the standard 'backstage after show show' on bbc 3. Probably a good turn given those two have hosted youtube/online pieces of their own.

As for the LeBlanc/Evans bits, I actually felt that LeBlanc was good. Evans though, as much as I want him to do well, did seem a bit too much like trying to mimmick Clarkson, though he has always been loud and brash. His shows always seem to be loosely held together with weak links.

The celeb interview with two disjoined guests was awkard at best & really getting Ramsey to show off his latest key whilst well meant just made him seem arrogant. It would be better if they either interviewed duos with a reason, or go to one per episode.

Let's not forget Tymon pocketed £100,000 from the affair.

Not bad for an incompetent who can't arrange refreshments.

As a senior producer, that sort of thing wasn't his responsibility. There was more to it than that. Also, it is unlikely he'll be able to get work of that profile again so the £100k may well only be 3 years wages.

As a producer, ultimately it is his responsibility.

And Evans reportedly offered him a job on the new Top Gear, which he turned down.

Clarkson and his camp followers turned up, p*ssed up, 3-4 hours later than expected.

The hotel kitchen, which had been expecting them 3-4 hours earlier, was closed.

Tymon sorted out alternative food. Clarkson got the hump, rinsed him out, called him an Irish c**t and punched him, putting him in hospital.

Was putting up with all that in Tymon's job description?

Or, let's frame it another way; had Chris Evans behaved like that, would you be defending him?

It's the arts luvvie, that's how it is.

Seriously, nobody ever swung for me when I worked in theatre but I saw prima donna talent getting away with bullying and harassing staff regularly. I've seen producers and directors come to blows and bitch fights with the dancers. That's how it is and nobody ever ran to the police.

And let's not get into actors sexually assaulting make-up girls and getting away with it. Mind you, that was pre Operation Yewtree.

It was always tolerable for the "talent" to behave like that, as evidenced by the fact it was tolerated.
