Wellard was a prat. In one episode he describes a 150mph Honda motorbike as "lethal" and a 160mph Lotus as "good for the British car industry."

I have a collection of all the TGs from the start, it's available online if you shout Arrrr! and wear an eye patch.

I watch odd episodes now and again, though my favourite are always the one that cover Rallying especially the Lombard RAC UK rally.

It's a programme of it's time and it's very much a 'car magazine as a show'. Some of the later episodes did start to get more exciting but honestly I'm surprised the original format lasted as long as it did.
